Honestly, this<\/span> Tambor<\/a> contained too much to write about in such a short space with little time. To say the night was an unexpected success would do the soul disservice. In order to give the curious a quick glance into the Tambor experience with Tea Party Music\u2019s own<\/span> Ian Friday<\/a>, a comprehensive run down of that night\u2019s exhaustive playlist has been created for your enjoyment. Without further a due this is but a small sample of what Ian blessed the tribe of Tambor with on that unforgettable night of music and soul.<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n

Mr. Tea Party opened with his stellar crowd pleaser, Anto Vitale\u2019s fiery,<\/span><\/strong> \u201cTheorema Del Faya\u201d<\/a> (The Tea Party Vocal). Next up, Radiohead\u2019s,<\/span> <\/strong>\u201cEverything In It’s Right Place\u201d<\/a> (Afefe Iku’s Mix) with lush synthesizers slowly built to a startling crescendo. Then came Peven Everett\u2019s scorcher,<\/span> <\/strong>\u201cBurning Hot\u201d<\/a> that sent flames up and down the dance floor. Talk about burning the disco out, the track was on fire! Black Coffee\u2019s heartfelt,<\/span><\/strong> \u201cSuperman\u201d<\/a> came to the rescue with soothing vocals by Bucie that cooled off the heated dancers with peaceful rains. After the downpour the dance floor was left flooded in sex oils by sexy siren Jill Scott\u2019s,<\/span><\/strong> \u201cCrown Royal\u201d<\/a> a white label demo provided by Shelter\u2019s famed Quentin Harris and Timmy Regisford. Then Ian pulled out the old school radio sing-a-long of Rufus & Chaka Kahn\u2019s,<\/span><\/strong> \u201cDo you Love What You See.\u201d<\/a> The party people classic,<\/span><\/strong> \u201cOff The Wall\u201d<\/a> by icon<\/span> <\/strong>Michael Jackson<\/a> followed suit for more dance and disco nostalgia. From the shores of North America to the coasts of South Africa, Culoe De Song featuring Thandiswa,<\/span><\/strong> \u201cGwebindlala\u201d<\/a> rang loud and free with deep tribal influences. South African\u2019s current house reign continued with Black Coffee\u2019s insane,<\/span> <\/strong>\u201cCrazy”<\/a> by Manchester Englander, Charles Webster Slightly Deeper Mix. Ian\u2019s own rework of Byron Moore\u2019s classic,<\/span> <\/strong>\u201cLife Starts Today”<\/a> (Tea Party Vocal Mix) jumpstarted the party as if the party needed more juice. Next the crowd lost it with Ian\u2019s self-produced<\/span><\/strong> \u201cFound Myself\u201d<\/a> (Yoruba Soul Mix). Immediately thereafter, house legend Kenny Bobien\u2019s falsetto reigned from the heavens singing a soul stirring,<\/span><\/strong> \u201cDon\u2019t Be Afraid\u201d<\/a> (Libation Mix) another Ian Friday rework. Yet, the voice of another angel resounded gracefully this time from the late Jimmy Abney with<\/span><\/strong> \u201cMore of You\u201d<\/a> (Ian Friday\u2019s Tea Party Vocal). Then the crowd was swept into its own<\/span> <\/strong>\u201cHeaven\u201d<\/a> (Marlon D & Groove Assassin Mix) with Detroit\u2019s soul crooner Kem leading the way. Dance classics consumed the night with 1989\u2019s<\/span><\/strong> \u201cPeople Hold On\u201d<\/a> by Coldcut with British soul diva<\/span><\/strong> Lisa Stansfield<\/a>. The Jackson\u2019s,<\/span><\/strong> \u201cThis Place Hotel\u201d<\/a> made the room cry, “joy” while a downtempo jazzy number of Ultra Nate\u2019s,<\/span> \u201cTwisted\u201d<\/a>(Re: jazz Mix) made dancers plie and triple spin around in circles. That wasn\u2019t all, Manoo\u2019s<\/span>, <\/strong>\u201cKodjo\u201d<\/a> with its crashing cymbals and four-count thumps made the tribesters leap for joy in spiritual dance circles of breakers and fancy footers. The night\u2019s closer and surprise, Elton John\u2019s,<\/span><\/strong> \u201cThe Beenies and the Jets\u201d<\/a> knocked the socks off the music lovers scattered about the room. Needless to say, the venue\u2019s once pristine dance floor resembled a worn torn aftermath culminated from Ian Friday\u2019s catastrophic rampage.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

WOW! What more was left to say? The diversified label owner and songwriter that seemed to have crafted half of deep house music\u2019s lengthy catalog rocked Tambor into the next stratosphere. Needless, to say Tambor would never be the same from that night forth. What a Tamborific time!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
