Through hazy vision and dim lights the stage appears as one giant schmooze fest. \u00a0Louie\u2019s stage manager is not attentive.\u00a0\u00a0 People dart to rub elbows with the \u201cHollywood of House.\u201d\u00a0 Do you even know who Louie Vega is?- people dance on stage.\u00a0 Pearly whites, handshakes and bear hugs overpower the music.\u00a0 The Hollywood couple must have messaged all of their mangs and dames to hobnob onstage.\u00a0 Their bleached blond bangs and soulfro frocks are completely strange, never having graced a prior Tambor. \u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

When Anane puts down her bedazzled gold phones she grabs a Fambor faithful for a dance.\u00a0 One by one, more and more lovelies join the awesome twosome.\u00a0 \u00a0Onstage rumps shake in the air.\u00a0 \u201cCerca Di Mi<\/a>\u201d never sounded so sexual. \u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

An unusual amount of sex straddles the air.\u00a0 And the potent seduction only increases with ritual mating calls.\u00a0 When Africa\u2019s Busiswa references queens and her royal highness on the DJ Zihle acclaimed \u201cMy Name Is<\/a>,\u201d actual freaks run to the dance floor.\u00a0 Wet bodies frottage.\u00a0 Hips gyrate.\u00a0 Groins gravitate.\u00a0 Arousal is felt.\u00a0 The people are molested on the dance floor\u2026by the music.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The energy is not all defined by sex. The smoke free zone becomes a hotbed for cancer sticks to spew venom.\u00a0 Toppling off table tops, aluminum cans piss carbs and cals onto the once covered baby powdered floor.\u00a0 The room reeks of sweat.\u00a0 The walls perspire.\u00a0 The cement floor gives way to slippery puddles.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

A voice yells over Femi Kuta\u2019s \u201cTruth Don Die.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cThere is a different energy in here.\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Of course, this is a Moon Ritual party.\u00a0 <\/i><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

A phenomenon not easily defined but worthy of experience.\u00a0 <\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Back on the platform, myths become future folklore.\u00a0 Local legendary DJs, transplants via NYC, perform an impromptu \u201cI\u2019ll House You,\u201d another adlibs, \u201cI Get Deep, I Get Deep, I Get Deep.\u201d \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Somewhere in the ritual\u2019s final minutes, Louie shines his spotlight back on the real stars of the night, the dozens of people still gathered on the floor, by playing Stevie Wonder\u2019s \u201cAnother Star.\u201d\u00a0 He teases the crowd.\u00a0 \u201cIs It All Over My Face?\u201d Fifty voices chant. \u201cHell Yeah.\u201d\u00a0 Loose Joints has the hanger-ons love dancing.\u00a0 Louie loves \u201cDays Like This<\/a>.\u201d\u00a0 He smiles.\u00a0 Then he tells the people to \u201cStand On The Word<\/a>.\u201d That\u2019s funny.\u00a0 Sunday morning church service is only hours away.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

All the while, Louie never utters one word into the microphone.\u00a0 His voice is amplified through the music he plays, a projection that allows him to stand taller than his stature and outshine the brightest of his contemporaries.\u00a0 This is the power of the Vegas, to make anyone and everyone feel like a star for the night.\u00a0 From old friends to new friends.\u00a0 From dancers to wallflowers.\u00a0 From music makers to music breakers.\u00a0 From Beverly\u2019s hills to Georgia\u2019s red clay.\u00a0 Louie\u2019s world is all about stars.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\t\t
