A sports fanatic dream is when salty snacks, fiery hot wings and cold brews-that makes guts proudly flop over waistlines-are cast in pretentious hierarchical displays in every supermarket grocery store.\u00a0 These are the flatulence, oops, festivities leading up to the big game.\u00a0 The super of all bowls.\u00a0 The daddy of all daddies.\u00a0 The well\u2026one gets the ruckus that captures the world\u2019s short attention span and limited IQ every February.\u00a0 Hey look.\u00a0 Even, Tambor joins in on the action.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tambor\u2019s<\/a> 2013 season is set to kick-off with a big bang of athletic proportions.\u00a0 The stage is set.\u00a0 Ready. Go.\u00a0 The playing field\u2019s turf is polished smooth.\u00a0 Ready for the throngs of dancing feet to run, tackle and crush rhythmic grooves.\u00a0 The LED Pro performs laser light theatrics worthy of a celebrity wardrobe-malfunction half-time exposure.\u00a0 The\u00a0sub woofers\u00a0so bombastic could host a bowl game.<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s game time.\u00a0 The players are onstage.\u00a0 The starting lineup\u2026.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

DJ BE<\/a> #2 Center<\/strong><\/p>\n

DJ BE wins the coin toss.\u00a0 He plays first.\u00a0 Jersey number two kicks off the music into the playing field.\u00a0 No one catches it.\u00a0 So the center drives the music hard up fifty yards on first down.\u00a0 Tambor secures home field advantage.\u00a0 The hype builds.\u00a0 Only the stadium is completely empty.\u00a0 Hush.\u00a0 The silence is deafening.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tambor\u2019s season opener is off to a slow start-a very slow start.\u00a0 The first and second downs appear as stop and go, slow-motion resolutions.\u00a0 Slowly souls trickle into the stadium.\u00a0 It\u2019s early in the game. There is no need to sweat bullets-yet.\u00a0 Back to the action.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The offensive lineman works hard.\u00a0 He travels four yards deep to the twenty-five yard line.\u00a0 First down-and-ten.\u00a0 He assumes eye formation.\u00a0 Thirty\u2026.Thirty-five\u2026.Forty.\u00a0 It\u2019s fifteen yards on the first down.\u00a0 The number two jersey works Arnaud D featuring Heidi Vogel\u2019s<\/span> \u201cGreen & Yellow<\/a>\u201d into the mix.\u00a0 There are eight dancers in the box.\u00a0 Will he gain more?\u00a0 He turns sharp and makes a rough transition.\u00a0 He drives the music into harder territory, increasing the beats per minute with pulsating thumps, but is tackled at thirty yards.\u00a0 Man, this crowd is tough.<\/span><\/p>\n

Jose Marquez<\/span><\/a> Guest Headliner Halfback<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Jose Marques arrives in the stadium with playbook in hand (CD holders) and is pumped to score touchdowns.\u00a0 The halfback\u2019s adrenaline pulsates at full-throttle.\u00a0 A bead of sweat sacks his forehead.\u00a0 He is all testosterone.\u00a0 The runner segues into a boisterous consumption of deepness.\u00a0 Followed by, African drums bum rushing from the sound system and onto the playing field to work a snap.\u00a0 The drums transform the game.\u00a0 Jose runs a punt.\u00a0 The music goes deeper and deeper into the trenches of the field.<\/span><\/p>\n

Yes! Team Tambor hosts the debut performance of southern California\u2019s, Jose Marquez.\u00a0 The rookie sensation is no stranger to athletic competitions, having three solid years of playing experience, he has performed around the globe at notable events as Djoon (Paris) and Miami (WMC).\u00a0 The headliner sports a black Kazukuta Recordings tee and blue denim that stands out amongst his teammates.\u00a0 All eyes and ears are tuned to the player, determining his next move.\u00a0 What will he play?\u00a0 Where shall he take the music? \u00a0Will he score?<\/span><\/p>\n

First Down.\u00a0 Second and ten.\u00a0 Jose gives eye formation.\u00a0 He runs the music to the seventeen yard line.\u00a0 The music fumbles.\u00a0 Jose continues to play hard.\u00a0 Afro house treads into progressive deep house.\u00a0 It\u2019s another fumble.\u00a0 Fumble after fumble fails to win over the crowd.\u00a0 But Jose uses no time-outs.\u00a0 The crowd responds defensively. It\u2019s the first-and-ten.\u00a0 The music goes out of bounds. It falls on deaf ears.\u00a0 Feet stop dancing.\u00a0 The dancers cut the field.\u00a0 Somehow they seem let down.\u00a0 Conventional wisdom tells the sports minded when the fans disappear trouble is a strategizing.\u00a0 The referee calls\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cINTERCEPTION.\u201d\u00a0 (The music turns over.)<\/span><\/p>\n

DJ Stanzeff<\/span><\/a> #1 Quarterback<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Wait one minute.\u00a0 Sounds like a bootleg, but it\u2019s not.\u00a0 It\u2019s Elements of Life featuring Josh Milan\u2019s<\/span> \u201cChildren of The World<\/a>!\u201d\u00a0 There is play action at 124 beats per minute in F minor.\u00a0 Eye formation looks to the left and then right.\u00a0 The QB, DJ Stanzeff, knows the game is in trouble.\u00a0 So the team leader brings pressure up the middle.\u00a0 There is tight coverage on every side.\u00a0 It\u2019s a twenty-nine yard punt.\u00a0 Wait another minute!\u00a0 What a hit!\u00a0 DJ Stanzeff breaks free at the forty yard line.\u00a0 Jersey number one is in the zone!!! \u201cThat guy just dropped a load of bass.\u201d\u00a0 Zone coverage is deep with beats.\u00a0 This is a COMEBACK!\u00a0 The game is saved.\u00a0 Nice job on execution.<\/span><\/p>\n

The dance floor sees the most action of the night thus far.\u00a0 The dancers are back in the game.\u00a0 They frolic at full force.<\/span><\/p>\n

Team Tambor runs the play.\u00a0 Yes, Tambor \u201cgoes for it.\u201d\u00a0 DJ Stanzeff steps up on the line of scrimmage and makes the play!\u00a0 The dancers scream.\u00a0 It\u2019s a first down.\u00a0 Twenty\u2026Twenty-five\u2026Thirty\u2026Thirty-five\u2026Forty!!!\u00a0 The music sweeps up the south side.\u00a0 First down-and-ten.\u00a0 Play action.\u00a0 Snap.\u00a0 Spot.\u00a0 It\u2019s a throw.\u00a0 DJ Stanzeff catches it!\u00a0 TOUCHDOWN!!! Kem featuring Chrisette Michelle\u2019s \u201cIf Its Love\u201d (Frankie Estavez Fusion Club Thumpin Remix) nails the coffin shut!!! The referee confirms.\u00a0 The dancers go mad displaying acrobatic stunts.\u00a0 There are handstands in crop circles, speaker whores kicking a foot to the speaker, and bodies rolling around on the floor in sweeping motions.\u00a0 This is the game\u2019s money shot.<\/span><\/p>\n

Stanzeff continues with another bootleg this time from Jill Scott.\u00a0 There\u2019s a yard to the twenty-one.\u00a0 Could this be red zone play?\u00a0 Stanzeff is given a thirty yard try.\u00a0 Unfortunately, there is no score.\u00a0 The quarterback continues the momentum moving into afro beat territory.\u00a0 The beats per minute increase to 126 with The Muthafunkaz,<\/span>\u201cOh I (Miss You)\u201d <\/a>the Atjazz Love Soul Mix that runs out of steam at the thirty yard line.\u00a0 The D major song couldn\u2019t quite make it to the red zone.<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s the fourth down.\u00a0 What will Team Tambor do next?\u00a0 They have two options.\u00a0 Team lead Stanzeff makes a split decision.\u00a0 Jose Marquez is back in the game on the line of scrimmage.\u00a0\u00a0 Jose comes back strong-perhaps with a bit of vengeance. \u00a0Jose kicks a field goal playing Floetry\u2019s \u201cI Want You\u201d (Osunlade Remix).\u00a0 For the first time, the crowd responds with vocal praise.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Two downs later the music is turned back over to Stanzeff who resumes play mode with Japanese producer Namy\u2019s<\/span> \u201cFrom Now On<\/a>\u201d with Josh Milan on vocals.\u00a0 The crowd plays ballet and keeps two feet on the field.\u00a0 Then there is the repeat play of Arnaud D featuring Heidi Vogel<\/span> \u201cGreen & Yellow<\/a>.\u201d\u00a0 The vibe ebbs.\u00a0 The remainder of the game is quiet, if uneventful.<\/span><\/p>\n

What a tough game for team Tambor and guest.\u00a0 Jose Marquez seemed unable to make the cut. The southern Californian failed to make one touchdown to win over the crowd.\u00a0 Game stats reveal Jose received little playtime.\u00a0 Perhaps, had the halfback secured additional play time, he might have won over tough critics.\u00a0 Here is to hoping, next time, team Tambor fans will show up in droves, won\u2019t railbird, but join in the festivities with unbridled fanaticism.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Back in the rear corner of the arena, the air feels lonely. \u00a0In the funk of left-over hazy oxidations, a shadow is made out of the blue.\u00a0 There stands the game\u2019s would be hero texting.\u00a0 Hopefully the message is of better news.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
